Reviewers’ Ethical Responsibilities

  • Objective Evaluation: Reviewers must assess manuscripts based solely on scientific criteria, independent of authors’ personal characteristics (such as identity, gender, race, religion, or political views). Reviewer reports must include scientific evaluation of the manuscript’s topic, methodology, and literature use, whether positive or negative.
  • Confidentiality: Reviewers are obliged to maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and not disclose information to third parties.
  • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers must inform the editor immediately if they identify any conflict of interest during the review and recuse themselves.
  • Timely Review: Reviewers should provide an objective, unbiased, clear, and constructive evaluation within the allotted timeframe or notify the editor if unable to meet the deadline.
  • Constructive and Scientific Feedback: Reviews should avoid personal criticism and aim to improve the manuscript by offering constructive, science-based suggestions.
  • Reporting Ethical Violations: Reviewers must alert the editor to any detected plagiarism, data manipulation, or other ethical breaches.
