Publication Workflow Process

Article Review and Publication Process

(International Journal of Communication and Art – IJCOMAR)

The article review and publication process at the International Journal of Communication and Art (IJCOMAR) consists of several clearly defined stages designed to ensure academic quality, ethical compliance, and editorial transparency.

1. Submission and Initial Confirmation (Within 1 Week)

The manuscript is submitted through the journal’s online submission portal. Upon successful submission, an automatic confirmation email is sent to the author. At this stage, the manuscript enters the preliminary editorial screening process.

2. Scope and Formal Requirements Check (1–2 Weeks)

The submitted article is reviewed to determine whether it:

  • falls within the journal’s scope,
  • meets the required length and formatting guidelines.

If the manuscript does not meet these criteria, it is rejected, and a system-generated rejection email is sent to the author.

3. Plagiarism and AI-Generated Content Screening (1–2 Weeks)

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening undergo:

  • plagiarism detection, and
  • AI-generated content analysis.

If plagiarism is detected or if the manuscript fails to meet ethical standards, it is rejected, and the author is notified automatically.
If the AI usage declaration is missing, the article is flagged, and the author is requested to submit an AI Usage Statement. Once received, the manuscript proceeds to further editorial consideration

4. Editorial Evaluation (2–3 Weeks)

The editor reviews the manuscript in terms of:

  • correct journal format,
  • adequacy of references,
  • academic language quality,
  • relevance and coherence of content.

Manuscripts that fail to meet editorial standards are rejected at this stage, and a system-generated rejection email is sent to the author.

5. Peer Review Process (2–3 Weeks)

Manuscripts that pass editorial evaluation are anonymized and sent to two selected peer reviewers. If deemed necessary by the editor, the article may be forwarded to a third reviewer.
Following the review process:

  • reviewer reports and feedback are returned to the editor,
  • manuscripts not selected for publication receive a non-selection email including reviewer feedback.

6. Revision Stage (1–2 Weeks)

Authors of manuscripts receiving revision requests are invited to revise their work in line with reviewer comments.

  • If revisions are submitted and deemed suitable, the process continues.
  • If revisions are found inadequate, the manuscript is rejected, and the author is informed accordingly.

7. Acceptance and Copyediting (1–2 Weeks)

Once the revised manuscript is approved, the editor formally accepts the article and notifies the author. The accepted manuscript then undergoes copyediting, including:

  • grammar, punctuation, and spelling checks,
  • formatting, and reference style editing.

8. Final Check and Publication

After copyediting, the article is returned to the editor and the IJCOMAR Journals Administration for final review and preparation. Upon completion of all checks, the article is published.
