Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines

Authors who wish to publish their works in IJCOMAR are required to first create a new membership at www.iletisimvesanat.com. After completing the registration process, authors can upload their study files by following the steps in the Article Tracking System, ensuring that their manuscripts are formatted according to the principles stated in the “Writing Rules” and “Author Guidelines” sections.

Authors are not required to hold an academic title. Scholarly theoretical papers, research studies, book and artwork reviews, concept proposals, and evaluations related to communication and art education written by graduate students, professionals, and artists will be considered for publication.

For manuscripts that meet the publication requirements and successfully complete the review process, author names will be added at the final stage by the editors. Therefore, authors must register in the “Article Tracking System” using their real identities and the full names they use in their academic or artistic activities, and they must also upload a Title Page file when submitting the manuscript. Otherwise, even if the manuscript is approved for publication, it will be rejected by the editors. In addition, authors are required to provide their ORCID identification numbers during registration.

The layout of the manuscripts to be uploaded to the Article Tracking System must be completed according to the following specifications:

Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the provided template and should be between 5000 and 7000 words (excluding references and footnotes). In exceptional cases, up to 8000 words may be accepted. Page numbers and author information should not be included in the manuscript file. A separate Title Page including the article title and the information of the author(s) must also be uploaded. If the submitted text has been presented as a conference paper, funded by an institution, or derived from a postgraduate thesis, this information must be clearly stated on the Title Page.

ARTICLE TEMPLATE

TITLE PAGE

Manuscript Layout:

Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the article template, and a separate title file must be uploaded when submitting to the system. The main text should be written in 10-point Aptos Serif font, justified, with single line spacing (before: 0 pt / after: 6 pt). One line space should be left between titles, and no space should be left between paragraphs. Citations and references are under the responsibility of the author. Please check the article template file for the title formatting.

Author Information:

Author information, such as name and institution, should not be included in the manuscript. Since the information entered during registration will be used in publication, please ensure that your details are entered correctly and that the title file is uploaded to the system. More than one paper by the same author in a single issue will not be accepted.

Article Title:

Original studies/manuscripts submitted for publication in the International Journal of Communication and Art (IJCOMAR) must include a title in the language of the article, followed immediately by the English title. If the article is written in a language other than Turkish, the main title should appear first in the article’s language, followed by the Turkish title underneath. The main title should be left-aligned at the top of the page, written in 20-point Aptos font, and follow sentence case formatting. Articles written in Turkish must also include an English title and abstract. Titles should not be excessively long and should adequately reflect the content of the study.

Abstract:
Under the title, an abstract of at least 200 and at most 300 words must be written in both Turkish and English. If the article is written in a language other than Turkish, the upper abstract and keywords should be in the language of the article, while the lower abstract and keywords should be in Turkish. The abstract should include information on the aim, scope, method, and results, and should be written in 10-point Aptos Light font.

Keywords:
Each keyword should begin with a capital letter and be separated by commas. There should be a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 7 keywords.

Extended Abstract:

A structured (extended) abstract of 750–800 words should be written for the full article. For Turkish articles, an English extended abstract is not required, and vice versa for English articles. A qualified expert or institution must prepare English translations of the structured abstract. Depending on the content of the study, the extended abstract may consist of the following sections: Introduction, Purpose and Scope, Method, Findings, and Conclusion, or it may be presented as a single structured text. The font should be Aptos Serif, 9-point, single-spaced, with paragraph spacing set to “before: 0 pt / after: 6 pt.”

Footnotes:
Footnotes must appear on the same page as the reference in the text. They should be written in single line spacing, Aptos Serif font, and 7-point size.

Article Section:

The article should include an Introduction section (with subheadings if necessary) containing a literature review, a Method section (if applicable), a Findings section (with subheadings if required), and a Conclusion section.

Figures/Tables:
Figures and tables should be placed within the relevant sections of the text and numbered consecutively (8-point font, single spacing, centered).
Links to the figures must be added under a separate title, “List of Figures,” after the References section, listed in order with access dates indicated.

In-Text Citations:

In-text citations should follow APA standards and include the author’s last name, year, and page number in parentheses. Example: (Surname, 2019, p. 10).
If the source has two authors, they should be connected with “and.” Example: (Surname1 and Surname2, 2019, p. 10).
If the source has three or more authors, only the first author’s last name should be written, followed by “et al.” Example: (Surname et al., 2019, p. 10).
If the source is unavailable, it should be cited through a secondary source. Example: (as mentioned in Surname2, 2019, p. 10).
Direct quotations longer than three lines should be written in 9-point italic font, single-spaced.

References:

References should be structured according to APA 7th Edition Style. Additionally, when listing the references cited in the text, the authors’ last names should be arranged in alphabetical order. Works by the same author published in the same year should be differentiated as (Keskin, 2017a; Keskin, 2017b). References must include DOI numbers in an accessible format when available.

Examples:

Article:
Surname, N. (2019). Title of the article. Title of the Journal, Volume(Issue), 23–36. http://doi:....

Book:
Surname, N. (2019). Title of the book. Publisher.

Thesis:
