Abstract
Sanatın etkileyici bir dinamizm barındıran ifade gücü, çağdaş sanat üretimlerinde çeşitli biçimselliklerle buluşmaktadır. Sanatçıların yaratım sürecinde etkili olan konular arasında, kimi zaman bireysel kimi zamanda toplumsal olgu veya olaylar öne çıkmaktadır. Dolayısıyla sanat, insanın kendini ifade ettiği ve ötekiyle iletişim kurduğu içsel bir alanın yansımasına dönüşmektedir. Bu makalede, Japon sanatçı Mari Katayama’nın eserlerinde fiziksel görünüşünü nasıl gösterdiği ve çağdaş sanat anlayışında sanatçı bedeninin nasıl ele alındığını değerlendirmek amaçlanmıştır. Sanatçının doğuştan sahip olduğu bedensel özelliği, sanatsal yaratıcılığının kökenini oluşturması açısından dikkat çekici niteliktedir. Sanat yoluyla bireyin kendini tanıma yolculuğunda eserlerde çeşitli göstergelerin varlığı görülmektedir. Bir öge olarak sanatçı bedeninin eserin merkezinde yer alması, çağdaş sanat kapsamında ve anlayışında görülen bir yaklaşım olmuştur. Performans sanatının fotoğraflarla buluşmasına paralel olarak, sanatçı kendini de performatif bir düzlemde sahneye koymuştur. Beden, ilham alındığı kadar ilhamın kendi olabilecek varlığın ta kendisi olmuştur. Bu makale, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden olgubilim deseninde çalışılmış olup, çalışmanın ana temasını oluşturan Mari Katayama’nın yapıtları, çağdaş sanat anlayışında ele alınmıştır. Sonuç olarak sanat, monolog ve diyaloglar arasında kurulan birer köprü niteliği taşıyan bir konuma sahiptir.

Abstract
The expressive power of art, which has an impressive dynamism, meets various formalities in contemporary art productions. Among the subjects that are effective in the creative process of artists, sometimes individual and sometimes social facts or events come to the fore. Therefore, art turns into a reflection of an inner space where people express themselves and communicate with the other. In this article, it is aimed to evaluate how the Japanese artist Mari Katayama shows her physical appearance in her works and how the artist's body is handled in the understanding of contemporary art. The innate bodily feature of the artist is remarkable in terms of forming the origin of her artistic creativity. The existence of various indicators in the works is seen in the journey of self-knowledge of the individual through art. The fact that the artist's body is at the center of the work as an element has been an approach seen in the scope and understanding of contemporary art. Parallel to the meeting of performance art with photographs, the artist also staged herself on a performative plane. The body has become the very being that can be the inspiration itself as much as it is inspired. This article has been studied in the phenomenology pattern, which is one of the qualitative research methods, and the works of Mari Katayama, which constitutes the main theme of the study, are discussed in the understanding of contemporary art. As a result, art has a position as a bridge between monologues and dialogues.
