Abstract
İnsan ırkının ve diğer canlı türlerinin varoluş sürecinin en başında gerçekleşen durum olan doğum farklı kaynaklarda farklı şekillerde betimlenmiştir. Tıbbi denilebilecek süreç olarak incelendiğinde doğumun süreci gerçekleşen ortam, kullanılan malzemeler, yardımcı kişiler ve ritüel gibi süreçlerden geçmiştir. Sanat alanında adımlar atılmaya başlandığında belge niteliği taşıyan işler ortaya çıkmaya başlamış oldu. Doğum konusu da hem mahrem hem de toplumca iğrenç bir olay olarak kabul edilse de eserlerde ele alınan bir konudur. Doğum konusu tarihsel süreç içerisinde de değişime uğramıştır. Eski dönemlerde olay anını belge niteliğinde kayıt altına alırken zamanla bu durum değişime uğramaya başlamıştır. Çağdaş sanat ile birlikte bazı sanatçılar doğum anında yaşanan acı, kullanılan malzemeler, çeşitli sorunlar, iğrenç olarak kabul edilen beden sıvıları ve bedendeki değişimler gibi sanatta ender olarak ele alınan konuları estetize ederek ve buna ek olarak doğum olayını kavramsal bir sorunun temsili gösterimi olarak izleyiciye sunmaktadır. Bazı sanatçılar doğum konusunu doğrudan, olduğu gibi sadece kuluçka dönemi ve dönemin sonunda ortaya çıkan varlığı anlatmak yerine farklı yöntemlerle izleyiciye aktarmışladır. İzleyiciyi rahatsız eden, düşünmeye iten, bazen travmaya sebep olan, sanatçının bir benlik arayışında olduğu performanslar, resim, heykel gibi çeşitli sanat pratikleri aracılığıyla izleyiciye doğum konusunu kendilerine özgü bir üslupla aktarmışlardır. Doğum konusu yeniden var olmak, eski benliğinin yerine yeni bir kişi otaya çıkarmak, kuluçka dönemi ile bir varlık oluşturmak, kadınsal kimlik gibi çeşitli konularda sanatçıların özelleştirdiği biçimde izleyiciye aktarılmıştır. Bu araştırmada doğum konusu sanat eserleri üzerinden analiz edilmeye ve doğum konusunun dönemsel olarak ele alınışındaki tarihsel gelişim ve farklılıklar incelenmiştir.

Abstract
Birth, the event that took place at the very beginning of the existence of the human race and other living species, has been described in different ways in different sources. When examined as a medical process, the birth process has gone through methods such as the ambit, materials used, assistants and rituals. When steps were taken in the field of art, certificatory works began to emerge. Birth is also among the works dealt with, even though it is considered both an intimate and a disgusting event by society. While the subject of birth, which has changed in the historical process, used to record the moment of the event as a document in the past, this situation has started to change over time. As we begin to approach the contemporary art period, some artists aestheticize partially ignored issues such as the pain experienced during childbirth, the materials used, various problems, bodily fluids considered disgusting and changes in the body, and in addition, they present the birth event to the audience as a representation of a conceptual problem. Some artists, on the other hand, have dealt with the subject of birth through various art practices such as performances, painting and sculpture instead of expressing it directly, disturbing the viewer and searching for a self. The subject of childbirth was conveyed to the audience through works on various subjects such as re-existence, the emergence of a new person to replace the old self, the incubation period and the creation of an entity, and feminine identity, in a manner customized by the artists. In this research, the subject of birth is analyzed through works of art, and the historical development and differences in the periodical treatment of the subject of birth are examined.
